Box Design
I did box designs for Fanaco Fasteners - updating and redesigning existing artwork as well as creating art for new products.
I used dielines provided by the factories Fanaco works with and adjusted their dimensions as necessary.
The artwork here, for 16 gauge brads, was created when Fanaco decided to update their brad and staple packaging from brown boxes with 4-color stickers affixed (example below) to 4-color printed boxes.
Fanaco wanted to use a box style that is unconventional for this type of product. I worked with one of their factories to create dielines and used existing artwork as a style guide.
To improve consistency of the Fanaco colors when printed on boxes, I converted the spot colors in all artwork to CMYK per Pantone’s guidelines and added a key. I ensured all packaging used consistent colors outside of their two brand colors as well.
I made their artwork more consistent across products and decreased unnecessary use of extra fonts. Additionally, I significantly reduced file sizes and made editing files easier by creating a pattern for their “diamond plated” sections rather than embedding images and using clipping masks as had been done previously.

catalog
I redesigned the Fanaco Fasteners catalog in 2019. For this project, I collected information from a variety of sources within and outside of the company and compiled it into a product catalog. The main goals of this project were to make the catalog more visually appealing and easier to understand for people with all levels of knowledge about fasteners.
I included photographs, illustrations, and relevant information about each category of products and presented information consistently and clearly throughout.
Software: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel
I illustrated vocabulary concepts for a glossary in the back of the catalog.
My favorite part of the catalog is the last page. The covers were 4-color printed and we had one colored page we were unsure what to do with. I suggested that we dedicate it to the office dog, Harvey.
After much discussion of how this page would look, we decided on three polaroids of Harvey next to our products, in our warehoused.
The photos posed some problems because our model needed to be on a leash, so I had to Photoshop it out of the pictures.
previous design
Prior iterations of the Fanaco catalog had much simpler design. They were comprised of product information laid out in tables.
factory instructions
I worked with Fanaco’s warehouse manager to create packaging and palleting directions for their products.
Because they work with several factories, they receive inconsistent packaging and palleting. Often this leads to damaged boxes and unsellable product. The directions we made help factories ship product that arrives undamaged.
